Could Shoes Cause a Virginia Car Accident?

There are many causes of Virginia car accidents. We know that getting behind the wheel after too little sleep or too much alcohol can put us at risk of a serious crash. We know that texting while driving and engaging in other distractions can be deadly. But did you know that shoes could lead to a major car accident? That is what one insurance company is trying to prove.

Confused.com, an insurance comparison website, has been trying to raise awareness regarding the dangers of driving in heels or platforms. The company is attempting to involve drivers in the awareness campaign to stop this apparently unsafe driving behavior. They are using the popular social media website, Pinterest.com, to warn drivers about hazardous driving habits.

According to Gareth Kloet at Confused.com, “wearing inappropriate footwear could cause the driver to lose control of the car and so we’d recommend keeping a pair of suitable shoes in the car to avoid any crashes.”

While the shoes you wear might seem trivial when it comes to your safety behind the wheel, this survey does bring attention to the fact that many drivers engage in dangerous activities. As a driver, you want to put yourself in the best position possible to minimize your odds of a serious accident. You might not be able to control the actions of other drivers, but you can control your own.
