School buses are often thought to be safe and very few have been involved in serious traffic accidents in Virginia; however, last week's multiple vehicle crash in Rockingham County reminds parents of school-age kids in Fauquier and Culpeper counties that no one is entirely safe in traffic.
A school bus for Linville Elementary School was involved in a multiple-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning. The Virginia bus wreck occurred at around 7:45 a.m. in the 2700 block of Harpine Highway.
According to a report by WHSV.com, a Dodge pickup truck swerved and hit the school bus while it was picking children. The truck, which was driven by 79-year-old John Henry Miller of Broadway, also struck another vehicle on the roadway.
The driver of the other vehicle, Amanda Carina, of Broadway, was taken to the Rockingham Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Thankfully, all occupants on the school bus were uninjured.
Linville-Edom Elementary principal Karen Thomsen rushed to the accident scene to calm the children who were in the accident. Although she was aware that they were not injured, she wanted to reassure them that their first day of school was going to be alright.
The Virginia accident lawyers at Dulaney, Lauer & Thomas are glad to hear that no children were injured in the accident. We wish Amanda Carina a quick and full recovery from her injuries.
