According to a report from NV Daily, a two vehicle crash has killed a sixth grade teacher in Winchester, Virginia. The tragic accident happened on Thursday, July 12th.
Amber N. Lucchiani, 38, was behind the wheel of her 2008 Nissan minivan when she was struck by a driver of a 2004 Ford pickup truck that had crossed the median. The pickup truck was driven by Leslie Wylie, 30, of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Statements from witnesses indicate that Wylie was turning east from Valley Avenue onto Jubal Early Drive when she stopped her truck. Then she accelerated her vehicle at a high rate of speed as she crossed the median strip and struck Lucchiani.
Wylie, along with two children who were in Lucchiani’s van, was taken toWinchesterMedicalCenter. Their medical conditions are not known at this time, and the accident is still under investigation. However, Wylie has been charged with reckless driving.
Lucchiani was a sixth grade social studies teacher at Robert E. AylorMiddle School. She taught there for eight years.
