According to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Department, a chase began on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, when a deputy witnessed a Toyota Sequoia speeding on Route 9 near Hillsboro around 2:45 a.m. The deputy tried to pull the Toyota over, but the driver sped away. The deputy followed, soon arriving at the West Virginia border, where the pursuit was stopped.
The WV Jefferson County Sheriff's Department was notified of the situation. When the Loudoun County deputy kept on driving on the West Virginia side of Route 9, he came upon a crash scene. The Toyota had hit two other vehicles, according to a WUSA9.com report.
Officials said the Toyota Sequoia was stolen, and the driver is wanted in Arlington for a property crime. Route 9 was closed for more than four hours.
Six people were injured in the crash, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. Four of the injured individuals, including the suspect, were airlifted to Fairfax Hospital, while the two others were taken to Jefferson Memorial Hospital. At this time, there is no information as to their conditions.
