Breaking News for Culpeper and Warrenton Accident Victims

Two Virginia State Troopers Hurt in Crashes

Posted on Apr 20, 2011

On a recent Saturday at around 10:15 p.m., Virginia State Trooper R.C. Weeks was responding to the scene of an accident involving another trooper when he was seriously injured in a car crash as well.

According to a report in the Washington Post, Trooper Weeks was listening to the police radio and heard that Trooper B.J. Sisk had been in an accident and required assistance. Weeks immediately took off, and, as he was driving on the ramp from Route 644 west to I-395 south, ran off the road, spun out, and hit the jersey wall.

Weeks suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries, and was taken to Inova Hospital.

Trooper Sisk got involved in the first crash when he was driving south on I-395 with flashing lights, heading to an emergency call. A Lincoln Town Car in front of him in the left lane suddenly stopped, and Sisk, slamming the brakes, was able to avoid the impact. A few seconds later, however, an Acura GL rear-ended his patrol car at high speed, pushing the police car into the Lincoln. All three drivers had been wearing their seatbelts and were later treated for minor injuries.

Fahim Javed, 30, of Springfield, the driver of the Lincoln who suddenly stopped in the left lane, was charged with reckless driving, as was the driver of the Acura, Eric F. Balangue, 35, of Woodbridge, who could not stop in time.
