A fatal Virginia motorcycle crash is a tragic reminder for Fauquier and Culpeper County bikers that they should always expect the unexpected when riding their motorcycle.
Zachary W. Robertson, 24, of Madison Heights, was riding his 2007 Suzuki sport bike east on Seminole Drive, just west of Triple Oak Circle, at about 11.15 a.m. Monday. He was following a 1997 Plymouth Neon when the Neon slowed down to turn right. Robertson hit the brakes and lost control of his bike. Turning the motorcycle on its side, he skidded into a 1994 Chevy Cavalier, which was coming from the opposite direction.
Amherst County Public Safety and the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department responded, as well as the Virginia State Police and the Central Virginia Regional Crash Team.
A local witness who was waiting for a ride to a job site said that "the motorcycle just locked." A single skid mark extended from 148 Seminole Drive, doubling to two skid marks to cross the double-yellow line up to the collision scene. A totaled, crumpled motorcycle lay on the grass at the apartment complex beside Seminole Drive.
Robertson, who had been wearing a helmet, died at the scene.
No one else was injured in the wreck.
The Virginia accident attorneys of Dulaney, Lauer & Thomas send their most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Zachary Robertson.
